Scenario:

I was going to my car the other day in a huge parking structure. As I was getting on the elevator, I see some woman relatively far behind me. Mind you, right next to the elevator there are stairs that most people take to get to the higher floors. As soon as the elevator door starts closing, she comes running to the door and someone presses the button to open the door. Once inside the elevator she says, "I can't believe you didn't hold the door open for me". Some guy responded, "I'm sorry". She says, "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to him" and looked in my direction. I ignored her but I was close to commenting. She was being rude to all the guys in the elevator. I was going to ask her, "AM I THE DAMN ELEVATOR DOORMAN, WHO HAS TO PREDICT WHETHER YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE THE STAIRS OR THE ELEVATOR. IT'S NOT MY FAULT YOUR FATASS TAKES HER SWEET TIME IN GETTING TO THE ELEVATOR"

Perhaps that particular woman was just in a bitchy mood.
But women in general do seem to believe men should be able to read their minds.

i know it doesn't help now, but for future reference, turn to the guy next to you and whisper (in a still audible tone) - "Isn't it weird how everyone stops talking in the elevator?" (add some emphasis if you want by changing 'stops talking' to 'shuts up')

Dude, I work in a building with 4 floors. I take the elevator about 1/2 the time, and I work on the top floor. You can ALWAYS tell a "2nd-floorer." They waddle like penguins, and are clearly out of breath from regular walking. They also have a little look in their eyes that says, "I'm fat and I don't care if you all have to wait for me to get off on the 2nd floor."

Yes, women expect special treatment from guys.

It's because there are stupid men who allow it to happen. I know far to many men who curl up and hide whenever they're significant other doesn't get their way.

See, there's the problem. Too many people who "were going to ask her", as opposed to not enough people who ACTUALLY DO ask her.

oh please, it depends on the indivitual, I know guys and girls who would never get the clue that the world duzn't revolve around them unless they got rejected by something so bad it made them cry 'till they cried their night off to the morning light. it's common sense to just tell them, "you want to be cool about being self centered, don't get hurt in the process!"

Because there's some men that think is does too, and when those suckers start falling for it they expect the rest of us to cave as well.

Why do some women think the world revolves around them?

Because they've eaten so many Twinkies that they now have their own gravitational field.
