Taxing the rich doesn't affect the rich. It affects the poor.

You tax, say a boat, the rich won't buy.

But who makes the boats? The poor. So now they are out of work

But if those tax increases on the rich are used to keep taxes for the poor and middle class low (or even lower), then the net benefit is a positive - the rich have a much higher marginal propensity to save (regardless of taxes) and the poor and middle class has a higher marginal propensity to consume - by nature of having less money, you spend more of a percentage of your income.

It's always easier to spend someone else's money, especially if someone running for office has no problem raping the people who actually pay taxes to get your vote so poor people can buy their iphones, esacalades and big flat screen TV's... and some people here think that the people who actually pay taxes don't pay enough...they are probably right though, someone has to pay when they upgrade from the 52" 60 htz LCD to a 65" 240htz 3D LED TV...

Or better yet their Ford F350s, custom confederate flags and possum flavored pop tarts.
