Why do some people walk around with their mouths open?

I usually breath through my mouth and therefore it's usually open a bit. Probably comes from playing a wind instrument, where you have to take in as much air as possible, as fast as possible, which is only done through the mouth.
 
Mouth Breather

One who can't look towards the sun without squinting, showing their upper teeth and dropping their mouth open.
Usually wears a Cleveland Browns shirt.

"Hey look at that sun smilin' mouth breather, I sure hope a cloud blocks out that sun before he drools all over himself."

Giant Danios [Danio malabaricus sp.] will swim with their mouths locked open when the dissolved oxygen falls perilously low (< 3.5 ppm @ 22C) in their water column. -M
 
I guess it has to do with a kind of air cooling like someone said earlier. But, to be really efficient, there should be an air intake AND an air exhaust (so that the cool air would stay cool)

A good test would be to follow these people close enough to check if there's a kind of warm-air flow around them ...

That's why I've been breathing through my mouth lately.... Sucks having allergies....and I've only had problems with them recently. I think it's all part of getting old and getting a dog. 😀
 
I think I know what you're talking about..but for some reason I just can't picture it. Like..of course I can picture soemone looking all dumb and *aduhh* with their mouth open..but I can't picture it done naturally. Anyone got pics? lol
