Why do some people spend so much money on their cars...

the bigger question is, why do people buy a $1500 car and spend $1000 on tires and rims, $1000 on sound system, $1000 on bodywork, etc.

😕 indeed. When I drive fast it has nothing to do with time, I'm not in hurry, I'm not trying to get from point A to point B as fast as I can, I just enjoy driving fast.

Well, if you use that logic, my Accord is worth about $3500 lets say (91). I spent $600 on a complete suspension upgrade (shocks, springs, sway bars), $1000 on stereo (speakers, HU, amp, sub, changer), $800 on alarm/tint and am currently saving to drop a new motor in it (for performance reasons). I find it fun to build it yourself. If I could afford a better car then I would prolly get one. I plan on getting something real nice once I get out of college. Its just part of the whole hot-rod thing, just for the new generation.

That doesn't even really bug me but...why do people drive around blasting bass when everything on their car rattles?

At least fix your freakin' rattles so I can concentrate on how sloppy your bass is. 😉

is it true that subwoofers are bad for your car because the bass shakes everything loose inside the car (like windows)?

Maybe if you have 15 woofers and are blowing your ears (which some people do!)

Many, MANY People spend so much money on their cars because they have no real financial sense about them at all. That's why somebody throws $700 into wheels on their old POS car that's a total piece of junk.

I think its just like people who mod their computer cases, upgrade components.. and overclock. just to get more out of what you got.. and sometimes just to make yourself feel better by doing things you like.

🙂 what ever floats your boat!

Or they have small penis' 😛

hehee., i dont think that is it.

it might be for some people just trying to boost their egos... i dont' know.

i still think it is just a hobby.

So they can visually inspect for dust, inactive fans, and smoke coming from their processors without opening their cases?

Okay, it was worth a try! 😉

My fiance once asked me why I wouldn't have any problems spending $150 on tint, or $300 for an ECU swap, or $400 on new wheels for my car. My reply was simply - why do feel the need to spend $100 on nick nacks, or $3000 on furniture, or $300 on a different color paint, or $200 in plants for the house?

Then conversation ended there.

People like to customize what they have and try to get more performace out of the car. Modding a POS beats me though

Yeah, it's true. I have a 12" sub in my commuter car after a couple of weeks with my stereo blasting it knocked the rear left window off its track. So, the power window is not working on it anymore.

a single 12" knocking off a window? My friend had two 15"s setup in his camaro and blew the hatchback window out.

I've always wondered why some people would rather drive a nice car than live in a nice house...

I forgot about that one! 😀

I guess it's probably because you can't take your nice house with you when you go out.
So, they spend all their money on their car because it's easier to bling-bling that way.

Before the Corvair Engine/Tranny conversion 17.5 MPG.
After the conversion 17 MPG

TV/VCR combo
Looking for a lappy with DVD 🙂

No need for solar panels,I can plug the bus in to 120v power.(When it is available)
I installed a 1000 CCA Marine Deep Cycle battery that has a reserve capacity of 220 minutes.
I can run all my lights, stereo and tv all night long and still have enough power to sart het up in the morning.

Sweet! only thing i would change on that is the coloring, get it all nice and shinning. Just saying if it was my car:

17mpg is not bad, better than some gas hogs today.
