fire away.
i think its because they hole up in there and never rise above the mason-dixon or west of texas. or the ones that do, realize very quickly that its very hard to be hired with that accent.😛

Just watch the Family Guy Episode "To Live and Die in Dixie" has all the explantions you will ever need for not living in the south

Born and raised in Tennessee. I have no accent, and am quite certain I have traveled to more locations than the majority of "non-southern" Americans. Try again 🙂

I grew up in the Midwest and moved to the South at 19. It is not as bad in the South as some would lead you to believe. At least not in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Much better here than anywhere else I have been.

The South tends to be stereotyped as a bunch of backwards, uneducated, racist, dirty hicks. I'll try to set things straight.

Backwards - Let's face it, anyone not living in a major city will be considered "Backwards" by the residents of said city. The South only seems more so because the people have more of a history to look back on. I'm sure rural Englishmen are more "backwards" than most Southerners.
Uneducated - WV is 50th in education. Heh. Guess this part of the stereotype is true.
Racist - Indiana is the headquarters of the KKK. I think the Midwest wins this one.
Dirty - Hey, it's more humid, what do you expect?
Hicks - Every state has plenty of these.

West Virginia is a northern state.

Turn that around. How many people who live in New York City have ever traveled south of the Mason Dixon line? The obvious answer is 'Why would I want to?!'... my reponse is 'Why would I want to move north of the Mason Dixon line?'

It's the northern state the North won't claim 😛

Actually, losing WV was a great move for Virginia...Virginia is a very classy state.

Read my post in that thread...

It sucked

Figured you'd say that.

Well, yours is a correlation of two people, mine is an entire state/country. Mine holds much more statistical weight. And if you want crazy people who are dumb......look no farther than your president, vp, and the majority of the people incarcerated.
