why do so many people here drive manual transmission cars...

Manual transmitions last longer and provide better performance (not just speed), especially in South America, lots off hills and sometimes dirt roads you would hardly see an automatic car, and I just got used to control the car according to road and traffic, when you get use to it its not hard at all unless you eat talk in the cell and change the radio at the same time.

Why I drive a manual tranny car:

Cost of a new clutch: $500

Cost of a new automatic transmission: $2500

End of story.

Yes they are also faster, more fun and in most cases more efficient.

That said, if you are getting your kicks from driving a car around you seriously need to get a life 😉

hey, autocross is a lot of fun 😛

On some cars, manual is more desired than automatic...

I can't imagine my stang being an automatic...where's the fun in that?

manual is actually fun to drive 😉

plus auto saps the power on smaller engined cars IIRC...and gives worse fuel consumption...

I just don't like automatic.. driving manual is actually driving the car.. driving automatic is just allowing the car to control too much 😛

Haven't driven a manual in almost a decade now, don't really miss it. The hell do I care if my Civic, Corolla, SUV, etc has a manual? Before I bother with a manual, I'll make sure I have a car fun enough to drive to warrant one. Maybe when I pick up a Z.

In soviet russia....the car DRIVES YOU!

:Q

😀

I actually have 2 cars one manual the other automatic. The auto is my daily driver and is pretty fuel efficent. I have to admit that clutching in stop and go traffic in Dallas sux. Then I have the Impreza which I've done almost everything to including aftermarket turbo setup, standalone ECU, suspension, etc etc. That car is extremely NOT fuel efficent, and I only drive that on weekends, autocrossing, and to car shows/meets.

For one thing, this board is mostly male. For another, the people here are more intelligent than the general public. And finally, it's full of geeks and engineers who don't fear the mechanical.

remember in the UK if you take a driving test in an auto you cannot drive a stick evar, but take a stick driving test then you can drive any car
