Why do so many people hate FilePlanet?

I notice that when ever there is a hot new beta and its on FilePlanet there are many how post saying FP suck???

I have been a member for a few years, its nice I pay a small fee and when ever I need something, I go there and dont have to wait in line or wait on slow downloads. Its Great.

It's not just FilePlanet I hate, it's the entire IGN network.

I'm more agitated with Blizzard than anything else, though.

they want you to pay, that's why

But they are a Business, they provide a service.

I think of them as the 7/11 of downloads, Im paying for the convenience.

BTW most of the stuff you can download for free.

You have to sign up for an account, which sucks. I know it's free, but I hate having to make up fake information all the time, and then remember my account name.

You have to wait for HOURS for a slow download, when you can usually find the file elsewhere with no waiting.

They want you to pay them money for the "privilege" of downloading said file with no waiting (which, once again, is available for free elsewhere, and probably faster)

They try to install their lame software with half the games out there. Which SUCKS.

Well atm their paying customers can't get WoW working yet since the so called 'Instant downloads" is not quite working since you need the key and they are sending in patches :(

Just some of the problems going on here.

You have to wait for HOURS for a slow download, when you can usually find the file elsewhere with no waiting.

Ok your secong statement cancels out your first one, go elsewhere.

They want you to pay them money for the "privilege" of downloading said file with no waiting (which, once again, is available for free elsewhere, and probably faster)

Would love for you to show me were I can get free downloads of new hot betas or demos with no waiting and 300 to 400 download speeds.

They try to install their lame software with half the games out there. Which SUCKS.

Why FP sucks-

I subscribed at 4:45EST. They charged me twice because it gave an error and said to go back and try again. My account is only activated 3 hours 30 mins later.

After waiting 3 hours 30 mins for account to be activated, I signed up for the stress test and still don't have my key (so can't begin downloading). It's been an hour 15 min so far waiting on the key.


FP purposely tries to make everything hard and time consuming. I don't care about the load on their servers, if you are gonna charge me for this stuff you damn well better keep your part of the bargain.

Try downloading something w/ your account now and tell us if the speeds even approach 300 to 400KB/s ;)

Fileshack > FilePlanet (even if they don't have Blizzard by the gonads)

beg pardon, how? My choices are: sign up for an account, which sucks, wait for forever, which sucks, then if I haven't fallen asleep and missed the "CLICK NOW TO DOWNLOAD OR LOSE YOUR SPOT IN LINE!! 5...4..." I get a slow download, which sucks.

Or, go elsewhere and forego all that.

How do my statements contradict?

As for where else to find the "hot new betas/demos", DC usually works.

basically you have to pay to download something that most other plces mirror for free

or

you wait in line for hours before you can download something at a slow speed


either way you gotta sign up for an account which is very annoying

most people just hate paying for what they can get free.
it's more of a hassle to pay, than just wait for a DL, honestly. (IMO)

The downloads automatically start now if you use their DLM.

I don't know why everyone complains about the speed. I always max out my connection (~4 Mbps) on their site.

those of you bitching about paying for fileplanet are brokeass, pathetic losers. You guys spend more on hand lotion per month then you would paying 7 dollars to download anything you want. It seems like such a big deal when you are a non-subscriber. But once you actually think about it (or...god forbid, pay for it). You realize that you were making a fuss over nothing.

the days of 1996 are gone, friends. I feel your pain, but it is time to move on. However, bitching about fascist, file downloading corpartions that you "absolutley refuse to pay for" dont make you look cool....they just make you look cheap/broke.
