All I can find is that it has something to do with Digital Radio Mondiale---whatever that is.

If french class serves me, mondiale = of the world...hmm. I think it has more to do with digital rights management tho...

What's buggy on it? I haven't encountered a single bug. Oh wait, you are just a MS hater who makes stuff up about them

I have done audio quality comparisons between Windows Media Player, Winamp, MusicMatch Jukebox, and a reference program Cool Edit Pro. Only MusicMatch sounds close to Cool Edit Pro. After listening to clips on each in short sequence, you quickly realize just how bad Windows Media Player sounds. The hf is rolled off and low end is "boomy". I suppose if you're playing grainy MP3's on those cheap little speakers you have with a 16 bit sound card you could care less but even with some Klipsch ProMedia's and an integrated sound card along with some 256 ripped 16 bit CD's you'll notice a HUGE difference in my opinion.

Get the MAD plugin for Winamp.

Why do so many people dislike Windows Media Player 9?

because it's made by microsoft and everyone loves to hate the big bad company....

for crying out loud...i'm sick of people bashing microsoft. WMP9 is a decent product, and so is winxp/2k.

no need to bash a company because they've made billions of dollars as a result of other people liking their products also and therefore buying them.

I think WMP 9 is fine. It come with windows and it kicks the crap out of Real (Crappy) Player

What doesn't beat the crap out of real player? If I have to use real player to see/hear it I won't.

As to Windows Media Player 9. Does it still refuse to make mp3s? Cause that's why I didn't care for it for playing music. I love it for video.

For music I prefer music match. Although I am currently running winamp. (Just did the big OS reinstall and haven't located my music match license key email. I love lifetime subscriptions.)

Its mouse interface absolutely blows! And it's not skinny enough - too much fat on the window.

I personallly like it on my other Windows ME rigs. Just I'm not htat stupid to mess with my perfect Windows XP Pro rig. I just fot the skins from the windows media player folder and used them on WMP8 on my Windows XP rig.

I don't like that it replaced my winamp "add to playlist" right-click options.

I just use Windows Media Player 6.4. It is so basic, and it doesn't eat up too much memory. Sometimes I have trouble streaming things, but if I just save the file to my HDD, then run it, it works fine.

For MP3s, I still prefer Winamp. It actually sounds slightly better.
