Why do SO MANY cases have a stupid door for the DVD/CD drives????

Why do SO MANY cases have a stupid door to access the 5.25" bay.

God I hate them.

Especially when Nero finishes burning a cd or dvd it auto ejects the disk at the end and it ALWAYS smacks against the that stupid door and sometimes the drive gets hunk up.

Why do they now make most cases with these stupid doors???

What for? Its just a pain in the A, You got to open the door everytime you want to pop in a cd or DVD, then open it again to eject....🙁 I hate them...

So get a case that doesn't have a door..

Or realize you are complaining about something that takes half a second from a product that you voluntarily purchased.

Sell the case and buy a new one.

clean look/noise muffling. i like em. and yes most software has the option to turn off auto eject. my nero doesnt eject until after u hitt he done confirmation dialog box anyways

what I would do.

Ya, I like the look of my door, but sometimes it bugs me. That said, definitely disable auto-eject in Nero and don't buy a case with a door on it if it bugs you that much.

I actually liked the door on my CoolerMaster, i thought that it actually hid the ugly drives.I have opted for the more traditional caase with the Lian Li this time.

Are you honestly THAT lazy that you can't take about 1 second out of your life to open the door? And trust me, there are so many more postiives than negatives to having one of those doors. Clean looks and noise reduction are just two of them. If you don't like the CD drive opening and hitting the door, you could take another second out of your life (My Lord...2 seconds now) to turn off the option to automatically open it after burning. But wait, theres more! You could also take 5 minutes and remove the door on the case, or even go online to Newegg and order yourself a new one. Stop complaining.

what he said...makes the case look good and muffles the spin-up sound on the optical drives. I hate them too. 🙂

Didn't see if anyone mentioned dust. My Wavemaster has a door, last three cases did not, so it has taken some getting used to. But on the whole I like it. Fortunately Coolermaster was smart enough to use a pretty weak magnet for the closure, so if the drive ejects with the door closed it just bumps it open.

My nice new Silverstone had a door too. I took it off when I first saw it and then changed my mind later. It actually does help a little with sound. And I'm not swapping CD's often enough that the door bugs me. In fact, on my office machine I never swap CD's. Just on the gaming rig.

For a computer at work I can see it as irritating, but on a home PC its kind of nice.

EDIT: Just because I like to brag.

I have the black.

I have an Antec P180. The door both gives it that ultra-clean look, and the composite structure really helps with sound dampening. Actually, since I don't have a single stock cooling component inside, and no fan does more than 21dB on its own, my computer is finally quiet enough for my audio needs.

hehe, good question, but don't forget that he already HAD opened the door to put the cd-blank in it 😉

You beat me to it ABUSER!

Besides you could always cut a slot out of the front panel for the optical's tray, and if you ever need to sell the case you can patch it up with duct tape. 😛

The doors are also just high enough technology to reduce (not remove) the tendency of 3 year old fingers from a) pushing the power button that may be behind it when closed b) inserting object b into slot a. Out of sight, out of mind can equal security by obscurity. 😀 But do remember that said future gamer will remember how to open the door when supervision is in the other room...

When will manufacturers learn that nobody wants these stupid doors?????????

Im looking for a nice case but they all have the moronic doors 🙁

and if you take the door off the case will look like crap 🙁

Somebody has to do something. Somebody has to stop this,.... Im going to stop it....
