why do so many BF2ers like Wake Island & Kubra Dam maps?

Wake is popular because it's so familiar with many players. It's got a nice layout where really any flag is up for grabs.

It is really unfortunate though you can't move the aircraft carrier around (or maybe that's good so people can't ram it into the beach or off-map aymore!)

I think Mashtur is the worst map. If the allies have a halfway capable pilot to fly that overpowered blackhawk around then it's all over for the MEC. Plus with close quarters maps like this one and KArkland it just caters to the noob tube crowd

Yup. If they ever fix the AA in this game then it would be interesting though.
AA works exactly the same as air-air missles. If you know how to take out people with a plane you can do it on the ground. The problem isn't with AA it's with plane speed and helo durability vs AA. Sometimes you can shoot more than 6 missles at a transport helo and not take it down, that's with timing the flares. Thank god the planes only take 2.

My fav. maps are Karkand, Sharqi and Wake.

in other words, if the target aircraft continues to pull 90 degree bank turns you will always miss.

Pretty much. In the air it's a bit different, you can still nail someone doing circles in the J-10 with the afterburner going. ;)

I thought having the AB on your turning radius becomes LARGER? IN other words, if you're circling behind someone trying to avoid you and you're in a J10 and hit the AB you are less likely to be able to hit them? That's not true?

I'm thinking of it in terms of actual physics though, so game physics might not be the same :) The faster you travel in your car the larger your turning radius becomes.

It's a game physics issue, faster=tighter turning.

I like karkand and sharqi because of the lack of vehicles, the game is just more fun when your survivability is longer than a half second.

Yeah I agree... Any map with a lack of aircraft is fine by me.
