I'm surpised noone has brought this up yet, there is an annoying habbit (at least in LA) for drivers in the lane next to the person signalling to speed up (they just can't stand one more can infront of them, if they speed up the lane changer will have to be BEHIND them, see it saves them literally seconds. Those seconds, apparently add up). My opinion is often it's safer to make a safe lange change without signalling here than to signal and get some jackass to suddenly speedup to prevent it.
