Why do simple things amuse us soo much sometimes?

For us geeks and stats addicts, you can find us(ahem russ) starring at the pproxy has it handle communiction with the rc5 clients, or simply playing with a can of compressed air. Or in killbat's case, a centralfuge. (where is killbat?).


What simple things in life amuse you guys?

my gf loves compressed air for some reason...went through almost a whole can from her b/f i told her that it actually cost money to get a new one🙂

Because some of use are just simple-minded people? 😉

Seriously, those simple things are usually a way to keep your hands busy while you're pondering on some idea/problem or just as a way of stress-relief.

And I must say, it's fascinating to see all those flashing lights of a hub and NIC's 😀
 
I used to be fascinated by watching the cloths spin in the washing machine. They went around so fast!

I like how fast my new VCR rewinds and fast forwards tapes. Takes like a minute or less for a 6 hour tape.

I am somewhat entertained playing with the web browser on my phone, but it's mostly useless.

I used to be entertained when I used Win 98 with my CD burner watching the buffer level while it burned. It's boring in Win 2000, though. It always stays full. 😉
 
Ooh! with my 12 speed burner the buffer isn't always full, it keeps going real fast between 97 and 98%.

And watching variable bitrate mp3's in winamp.. *drool*

So do I. I could stare at a camp fire and poke around with it for hours. Actually I have done that. I usually the one who gets the camp fire going and keeps it going. Even when things are wet I'll get a fire going some how. 😀
 
I like stareing at the resource meter as I run millions of winzip/winrar windows...it's funny to see the meter go lower and the speed of the computer decrease. 😛
 
Ohhhh... Air canisters. 🙂

Can't forget blinking LEDs. Whenever I get a piece of equipment, I look for lots of LEDs.
