What I like to do with people that intentionally get in my way is, pretend that it doesn't bother me, then pass them when I get a chance. Once I get infront of them I then go REALLY slow. Then the road rage commences. :)

people cannot judge the speed they are going when not constantly looking at thteir spedometer.. or w/o using cruise control. they just base their speed off whoever is in front of them. so when you come flyin up.. they will think "oh, i'm going too slow" and match you.. and not look at how fast they're really going.

that or they're trying to piss you off.

Yeah, I totally try to clock off those losers, mainly cause I know it'll piss them off, and they actually are dangerous. Other than that, I guess people figure if someone is trying to pass them, they must be going too slowly.

Things that annoy me about drivers where I live.

1) Same thing as the OP, drivers speeding up when you try to pass them.
2) Drivers never using blinkers.
3) Drivers slowing DOWN before an intersection when someone is waiting for them to pass by so they can make a right handed turn.
4) Drivers slowing down wayyy before they intend to turn and then swing outwards to make a turn in the opposite direction as if they little 6" Suzuki Sidekick needs to swing outwards like an 18-wheeler Mac with a huge trailer behind it.
5) Drivers that "block" you by changing lanes in front of you the instant you change lanes.
6) Drivers that get in the left hand lane of a 75 MPH highway and go 40 MPH. Usually old people, truckers, or women in a big SUV with a cell phone.
7) Anyone driving a ricer with a muffler to make their car sound like it has more then 80 horsepower.
8) People that drive in 2 lanes. Yes, it's frikking common where I live where people drive down 2 frikking lanes in the center.
9) Drivers that have 5+ car lengths of space between them and the car ahead, but as soon as someone turns into their lane ahead of them, they have to slow down to have even MORE car lengths of distance. Then they turn on their brights and flash you a few times like you cut them off or something.
9) I have way more complaints but seriously, I need to get back to work.

Don't you think you're escalating the situation and actually making everything more dangerous? Why not leave the traffic enforcement up to the cops?

My favorite are people who sit in the left lane on a two lane highway, and when I pass them on the right, they speed up to try to keep me from cutting back over with enough time to avoid rear-ending someone on the right. Some b!tch in a Saab 9-3 did that to me this morning :|

That's what I'm thinking when the fvcker in front of me blocks me.

Funny story:

I'm cruising in my Z and some Camaro is hogging the lane. As I try to pass the mullethead tries to speed up. I pull away from him and take the lane easily. Angered that his car lacked the power to prevent me from overtaking him, he proceeds to tailgate me hardcore. Several miles later I have to take an an exit that connects to another freeway. Mulletboy wants to be a hardass and tailgate me through the turn. I drive my car to the limit and I don't see mulletboy anymore. He never comes out onto the other freeway. There's no turnoffs on the connector so Hick McMullet must have created his own exit into the trees, lol.

I hate people like that. If he would have died I wouldn't have cared one bit, since my mission on Earth isn't to preserve the dredge of society.

That IS a funny story. :)

I'm a sports car guy, but my old pickup has its perks. Someone fvcks with me too much, and my vehicle become expendable. I couldn't do that with a sweet ass Z. :( I'd most likely do what you did. ;)

I do that when a semi starts to pass me. I don't know why to this day, it definitely isn't something I do consciously. But once I hear that bigassed turbodiesel downshift to get around me, I generally realize WTF is going on and SLOW DOWN to get myself out of harms way.

because people don't pay attention to the fancy numbers and stuff on the dash when they drive... they see someone passing and they think they are going slow... they look down and realize that you are just going fast.

That, or she was a stupid old bitty who thinks if she speeds up you'll slow down and make the world a safer place or some dumb crap.

You must not remember the guidelines for safe following distance from your DMV handbook.

at least motorcycles make enough noise that you know they're there... SOMEWHERE.

what really bothers me is when a one lane highway opens up to two with a passing lane for a few miles. everybody who moves over to the slow lane speeds up, I guess they feel it's safer to go faster because the road isn't so narrow anymore.
