i HATE installing those progs because of all the crap they install, and how they hijack the machine. i haven't installed either for the past 3 or 4 years just cuz i hate the crap it installs

QuickTime Alternative seems to work better on my machine than QuickTime itself, heh, although it might just be psychosomatic.

i use real and it's not as evil as you think...

however i don't like quicktime at all. it crashes when you try to resize while you're playing something

go on the sourceforge and download the latest media player classic. i believe it comes w/ both real player and quicktime player codecs.

I will not touch Real Player with a 10 foot pole, but I use Quicktime and I never had a problem with it. I like it more than Windows Media player.

I agree! I hate them both. Had to install QuickTime last week for the Episode III trailer. It's not so bad now. During install, when selecting file types, it's not default set to play all file types. Leaves MP3s alone. And there's an option now to turn off the tray icon. I think they've gotten better. I hate Real, though, and won't have it on my machine.

Real Alternative sucks for streaming media. Stick with the Real one.

Quicktime is ok but I hate the player. I actually use Media Player Clasic for it. Seems to work well but I won't say it is much better than the Apple one.
