Why do people still think cellphones are cool?

i've never paid for a cell phone or pager and probably never will...i hate carrying stuff and if i'm out and can't be reached, then i want it that way..

Cuz they still are. You should go to Asia ( I was just there this month ) and see all the million little things they can do to cellfones over there. Cellfones here(states) are like garbage compared to the ones they have there.

Yeah I was in japan in April of '99 and the standard joe's cellphone was smaller than what most people here have now. They are way way ahead.

Cell phones used to be cool until i found out they only spent a dollar to make a cover and make u pay over 10 bucks for them. errr

Oh yes that reminds me. The second anybody spends money on a new face plate for their cellphone is the second that person should take their own life.

Phone covers are pretty cool....it cost you what? 5-10 bucks Australian to buy one? And sine I use my phone very frequently (lotsa ppl contact me) I'd rather pull something 'cool' outa my pocket than some year old phone that's cover is cracked and munted! Personal choice I reckon.

It's like computers....I wouldn't bother spending money to have a clear case on my computer, but it wouldn't bother me if someone else did.......comprehendo???

OK Prices have come down. Last time I checked in Canada they were $29.95!

Yeah, I can relate w/ you skoorb (brooks backwards eh?). I do occasionally see ppl walking around getting phone calls and they think they are super freakin important. But the funny thing is that half the time (if not more), this is what I hear when I see someone answer there cell:

Ring!
Person: "Hello? yeah Bob? (or any name there) Uh huh...yeah, uh...hello? Bob, hello? Hey, Bob you still there? Hello!? Bob, hello? Hello?"

30 secs later : "Hello? Hey Bob...call me back ok? Hello? Can you hear me?"

I just stare at them and laugh inside at them.

ROFL, Today I was at staples returning the palm software they stupidly sent me(only gave me store credit:|, I don't know how you paid for it, by cc of course idiot manager). Anyways, while waiting in line this kid I swear wasn't more then 10 was asking his dad to get him a cell phone. WTF is up with that? I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud.

LOL. I want to see that happen. It'd be hopelessly funny. Although it could be the phone fscking up too. That's happened to mine once, but it's an OLD POS phone. Like you're on a conversation, and you get cut off, but you don't notice right away, and you get called back, and it rings in your ear. That's a pain in the ass, but it CAN happen.

Walking and talking on the phone just to look "cool" is just ridiculous. I don't think people look cool cause they have a phone, so why would THEY think they look cool? Just seems too stupid. Some people are FAR too concerned with their appearance.
