Why do people share their credit cards?!?

About a month ago I was "hired" to build one complete computer system and a tower. With a budget of $1250 I went to newegg.com and ordered all the parts. Everything was going fine until last Wednesday. That's when the CC started declining everything. I double checked with the customer and she said her CC had $1250 in it for sure. So I calculate how much I had spent and there HAD to be at least $350 left in the CC. Well she calls the CC company and they say that she owes THEM $100 and that there is no money on the CC. That night while I'm over there finishing the job she says that from time to time she shares her CC and that people will use it without her knowledge. She will then find out who used her CC and they will say they're sorry and return the money to her. Well until I get the remaining money to purchase the case, mobo and hard drive, I'm stuck with a cpu, ram, cd-rom and a floppy drive. And just to top it off, the new hard drive corrupted itself on the way there. Those speed-bumps are dangerous!!

I don't know any one that shares their credit card. My wife and I have a few that we share, but not with other people.

That's sad. I knew a guy who would let you use his cc back in college but you had to pre-pay him and he'd make the purchase, which is very reasonable. Sharing numbers like this = gay. She deserves to have her CC abused.

I like getting the cashback bonus. So I just give my cc to random strangers so I get more cashback bonus and flyer miles. 🙂

What's the point of doing that? Isn't the whole point of a credit card to spend money and pay later? What's the point of pre-paying?

probably doesnt have a credit card or its maxed out...and trying to make internet purchases...

I think the best way to share a CC (if had to) is to get the purchase pre-paid, then give them a one-time CC number with a pre-set limit.

Good luck on the preset limit though.

I have some clients that just give me their credit cards and say "buy what you need".

I guess you could say it's a trusting business relationship.

I believe Citibank cards have this feature...
