What's your point? Just because its highly voted in other aspects doesn't mean it's interface doesn't suck.

If you buy a $30,000 Hasselblad and you can not take a good picture and after that you will complain about menus or interface, it does not mean that camera does suck...anyone would say: YOU SUCK and you even should NOT buy a camera or use your iPhone for taking photos...and tell...how great is iPhone interface...

Many people are taking great photos with many different cameras and don't complain about...

I guess, you're a Bad Dancer, who blames on your own balls your inability to dance good...

Canon (not Cannon lol) are no better or worse to learn on than any other fully featured camera.

Some make it more difficult , some make it easier.

I feel canon menu systems are simpler to use than nikons but this is more on the pro models than the entry stuff anyhow.

Canon doesnt have too many genuine low-end SLR's. Nikon has the D40, D40x, D3000, 3100, and 3200.
I suspect more people may be inclined to jump in on the super cheap market. And if thats what they learn on, thats what they'll stay with when they upgrade. Particularly if they've bought plenty of lenses already.

Those are low-end FOR CANON. They are much more expensive and capable than the absolute cheapest Nikons. Canon still doesnt have a true entry-level beginner/noob camera.

Wtf are you talking about? You do realize that the D40 is approaching 6.5 years old and has long been discontinued? The Rebel XTi is the Canon equivalent and both were similarly priced.

Currently, Canon lists a cheaper DSLR on their site than Nikon does...

Since you're friend has never owned a DSLR before, I don't think it'll matter how "easy" one is over the other. With that said, he should go with the brand which he feels has the better lenses. Remember, Canon and Nikon are LENS companies who also happen to make cameras. In the end it's the 4" BEHIND the camera who takes a good picture. I own all Canon, mostly because my father gave me a bunch of stuff. If I were buying it on my own, I'd go Nikon. Just my $0.02.

Used both Canon and Nikon.

The learning experience are pretty much the same.

The approach to button placement and menu logic from canon and nikon is quite different.
