Why do people on computer help message boards always ask if such and such is covered under warranty?

Various sci-fi curse words used in title to avoid mod action. 😀

Their posts always go like this:

"hello im new here i have a (brand new computer), but it has (description of a problem with it), can i get it fixed under warranty?"

Holy penis, why don't you just call them and ask? Forums are where you go when you're out of warranty.

Option 1: be on hold for 2 hours and probably still not get through.

Option 2: take 30 seconds to ask people who have already been there and done that.

Why should we take option 1 again?

Foiled again!

You do make a good point though. Most of the time, it seems the problems people ask about are either obviously covered or are subject and no one would really know, but I guess that isn't always obvious to the one asking the questions.

same way people post:

"My dog is all puffy and throwing up (for the last week) what do you think is wrong?"

"I have surgery coming up, what is ok to eat/drink?"

"how is babby formed?"

I can call a company and get an answer which might not be completely correct. Or I can ask you guys and get real world experience from a few different people.

Why do people ask why people do things on message boards? I truely can't understand it. After all isn't it just easier to ask the person who posted it
