unfortunately the dollar menu usually makes you fat.

consider this: there are no items with grilled chicken on dollar menus at any restaurants.
the items usually are hamburgers, mc-chickens, fries, you get the idea...

how are you supposed to eat from that menu regularly? you cant. which is why i just pay the big bucks for a grilled chicken sandwhich. although my wallet takes a hit, my body doesnt.
Eating just burgers from fast food places hasn't screwed me up.

do you eat fast food every day?

If i ate double hamburgers every day at a fast food restaurant id probably get fat. you might not i guess if you are just naturally skinny or young.

I *always* buy off the dollar menu.

If I go to McDonalds, my normal meal is

Dbl Cheseburger - $1
Medium Fries - $1
Extra Large Diet Coke - $.69 (Summer Special)

Full meal for under $3.

Oh man... back in the good 'ol days, Whoppers were on sale for $1 each! I had two of those and a water many times; can't beat the calorie/dollar ratio on that one anywhere...

for me i wen to mcdonalds 8 times they got 3 orders correct i went to Wendy's 6 times the got no orders correct so in the past 3 years ive been to burger king at least 200 times (very close to my job and i hate sack lunchs) they messed up 2 of those 200+ orders

so to me good service is worth the extra money

i feel i may have missed point to thread though🙁

The McD this one small town I do appraisals in has 32 oz drinks for $0.85 and their dollar soda off the value menu is smaller. If I and stuck there for lunch I get a $1.00 McChicken with mustard instead of mayo, a $1.00 fruit and yoghurt parfait and a 32 oz diet coke for $2.85. The cheapest item on the number menu is $2.99 and comes with fattening fries.

I go out and buy value packs of rib-eye steaks on sale and then grill them up with some veggies. I'm paying about a dollar less for my meal. Who's eating better? It takes me less time to make my food than it takes for you to get yours.
Rib-Eye steaks? Rib-Eyes? And Value packs?

Sheesh, at least eat the good stuff when you cook it yourself. Yes, a fast food burger is junk. But who has time to grill up a steak during lunch break from work? I mean, really.

And really, you think that grilling is faster? 5 minutes to season the beef, 10 minutes to get the coals ready (if you have a chimney starter, 30 minutes without), and about 7 minutes to cook a good, thick steak. Even if you start the grill and then prep the meat, it's 17 minutes of prep time minimum. I've never waited more than one minute in a fast-food restaurant. Plus, I'd have to drive home from work (30 minutes without traffic, 60 minutes with, one-way) while I can walk across the street for fast food.

Lean mean cooking machine ftw. If you're in a hurry nothing beats it. I'm comparing apples to apples as best I can.

Cooking any piece of decent beef tastes like absolute sh*t on a Foreman.

I disagree. How do you season it? Ack! I guess it's up to preference. I'd much rather grill up some decent food than eat at McDonalds. We're all different. You guys make your choices, I'll make mine. The shame of it all is the cost to tax payers due to health problems like diabetes and heart failure.
Do you work in an office? It's not very realistic to grill your own meat and vegetables while working a white collar job. If youre unemployed then that maybe a different story

Or you could simply prepare the meal the night before and take it with you to work the next day.

PF Changs....yum.....please don't tell me they have bad food.

Are you kidding? All Americanized Chinese places suck compared to real Chinese food. P.F. Chang's is overpriced crap. Even Chinese buffets are better.

they have bad food :frown: *ducks*

McDs cheapo meal

1 Dbl Chee add mac sause $1
1 Med Fri $1
1 Water free

for 2 bucks and change it covers me if I can't make it thru the work day (useually I don't eat lunch while at work)

I used to eat the occasional fast food burger, but then I got a real one from one of the more upscale places I can reach for lunch (made on demand and not beforehand, nice fresh ingredients, etc.). Now I just can't go back.

I go to Tandoori to get Chicken Masala with green super-sauce and the other type of orange super-mix with onions. Or to the local hobo joint to get fresh pancakes with maple syrup 🙂

You can have your McShitPounders with ****** on the side.

I bought a Wendy's $.99 Chicken sandwich recently and was disappointed. Nothing even close to the regular Wendy's chicken sandwich. Wasn't as good as the Rally's/Checker's cheap chicken sandwich.

Because after you buy the fries and drink, you're at the same price as a combo meal.

+ the $1 sandwiches are usually lacking something that the bigger ones have.

Who eats at these places anyways? Only fat and gross people eat at fast food joints like McDonalds and Burger King.

speak for yourself. I LOVE fast food just as much as i love a salad and grilled chicken and i do not consider myself fat or gross.
Taco Bell's Nachos BelGrande is orgasmic, McD's Quarter pounder w/cheese is heavenly, Burger Kings whopper jr w/cheese with onion rings and a frozen coke is delish! 😛

I eat there too, and I'm not actually fat.

Gross though, well....you may be on to something 🙂
