False... Asking for a Coke when you're getting a Pepsi is overly stupid. "If you can pick me up some Coke while you're out at the store that would be nice."
"OH, ok."
*Comes home with Coca-Cola*
"WTF, I don't like Coca-Cola!"

Dude you are really really reaching.

If you live with someone you'd know.

If you ask for a coke in a restaurant that serves only pepsi then it's a given.

No. Seriously. People who call it Coke and expect anything but Coca-Cola are morons. Soda is too diverse for someone to just call it Coke for everything and expect to not get Coca-Cola in return.

Oh let's not forget this gem!

Who actually looks at the keyboard when typing? 😛

It's the same thing with everything else, tissue paper is Kleenex, bandages are band-aids, they are all genericized trademarks.

What's more annoying is when companies are allowed to trademark generic terms. i.e. don't even dare use "Monster" in your name. "Foot long" - how the hell is a common measurement & term a trademark.
Those trademarks are "in the context of" - Subway is trying to own "foot long" in the context of sandwiches. They've said they don't give a shit about anything else, not even other food, which is another example of why the head of Monster Cable is such a tremendous cockface.

It annoys me when people call my Samsung Intrepid a blackberry.

Velcro doesn't bother me though...
My company has issued nothing but Palm Treos for years, but we had to find something else when Palm stopped using Windows Mobile - we went with the Intrepids.

They're still Treos.

Surely "Mp3 player" isn't accurate either. Its a 'digital music player'?
Actually for a while there was a push to call them DAPs, Digital Audio Players. I called them that for years and only recently started using iPod or Mp3 player.

system box is the computer. monitor is a monitor. keyboard is a keyboard, and a cpu is a cpu.

That is a recent change in terminology. When I worked on mainframes the CPU was the big central box that held all the processors. It was not until the advent of math co-processors that the term CPU started to be used for the actually processors, before that there was no other processors for it to be central to.

No. Seriously. People who call it Coke and expect anything but Coca-Cola are morons. Soda is too diverse for someone to just call it Coke for everything and expect to not get Coca-Cola in return.

People who call soft drinks coke drink Coca-Cola.

I think the only brand I use generically is Coke. If I ask for a cola beverage, I say Coke.

waitor, Here is your Coke sir.

You, "WHAT IS THIS!!!"SPitoooo all over table

waitor, It is a coke, did you order that?

You "NO, this is not a COKE!!"

Waitor "??????????????"
