Why do people like to intentionally misspell words?

Misspelling words is a sign of rebellion. Nerds love to rebel since it makes them powerful. Hence, nerds misspell words.

Funny given your use of the 0 in your name instead of the O.

In a way, misspelled words tell you something about the person writing them. I believe you could just call it another form of self-expression. Why do authors use technically improper grammar? To express an idea or feeling in a way that proper grammar could not.

I usually do it to mock people who can't spell, or people who do it for the "geek/gamer chic" factor.
