Why do people like to cover up their license plate ??

I have always wonder this ??
I mean if you think about it, I can go down the road and see thousands of license plate all over the road.
I know my neighbors and I see all their license plate...what am I going to do about it ??
Hell, if somone were to cut me off the road, I can easily see their license plate....what am I going to so ?? probably nothing.

I am guessing people wanting to cover their license plate cause they don't want people online to match them up with their license plate but.....whats the point ??
I mean at work, I know there are some people that don't like me, but I'm not going to cover up my licnese plate.

I think alot of people like to cover up the license plate just because they see others doing it.
So tell me the worst thing that can happen to me if I let everyone see my license plate....then I can present the same scenario that can happen to me here where I live.

So hows that different from me being at '''lets say" a gas station and everyone see my license plate ??

No, I'm talking about when people post their cars online(selling or whatever reason) and they blackout the license plate.

Say for example I e-hated you... if I got a hold of your license plate # and some other details you would wake up to a new windowless car!

No, some people still just don't get it.
So whats the difference from me being at ..lets say..the gas station and everyone there can see my license plate anyway.

because there's 100,000 people on ATOT who know you're an asshole. 😉

whereas at the gas station, there's only 2 other people and unless you're driving a camaro or lifted truck, they don't know you're an asshole.

OK, so at work, plenty of people do not like me. Some of my neighbors do not like me. Do I block my plates from all those people too ??

What about the numerous times that I have pissed someone off while I'm on the road and they can easily see my license plate.
Whats the difference ??

To keep some random fool from calling the police and telling them you've got a kilo of heroin in your trunk, or something to that effect.

If you don't, you should. There can be very, VERY serious consequences.

All of you guys answer has the same flaw.....How is that different from me being at work and some of my employees hate me, parking at home and some of my neighbors don't like me, or me pissing some one off on the road.....they can all see my license plate.
Why do people need to cover their plate when posting a car online ??
How is that any different ??

Because people are more willing to do stupid sh!t like that over the Internet than in real life.

Its a lot easier to be an ass to someone when you dont have to see their face.
