I wont buy the car if there is one there. Just request that they remove it or not put it on.

I agree with you 100%. I have pissed off MANY car dealers, both used and NEW b/c I tell them "Take your name off MY CAR, else I'm not buying it!"

They look at me like I just emerged from a spaceship or something. I tell them "Unless you're paying me a stipend for giving you free advertising.....take the sh1t OFF." They always do.

It amazes me how many people drive around with a bigass "SMITH FORD 123 MAIN ST. DALLAS, TX" AND the license plate AND the mudflaps on their car/truck. Don't they realize that they are advertising for free?

It is common practice for dealerships to slap their compnay logo all over new vehicles as they roll off the car carrier, unfortunately.

Let's put it this way. You go to a store called Marco's to buy a pair of jeans. You spend $50 on a brand new pair of designer jeans, and Marco writes his name on them. Wouldn't you be pissed?

You buy a car from them, and to thank you for your business they deface it? I don't put up with that sh!t. I think this especially holds true when buying nice/new cars, not so much a 1992 Corolla.

we have a little sticker on the windshield on the lower corner of our bmw that shows that we bought our car from a certain dealer (they give good benefits to carowners, like free car washes, etc)

The last car I bought was from a private individual so the sticker on it was from the original dealership. I managed to get it off without any issue. The car before that we did buy from a dealership and we had them take it off.

A friend of mine's dad once bought a brand new truck and between the time he had finished the test drive, agreed to buy and filled out the paperwork, the dealership applied their emblem to the back and drilled 2 holes in the front for a front license plate holder that had another one their ads. I would have been pissed. :|
If the state in which the dealer was located issues two plates, then the dealer was required by law to provide a mounting point for the front license plate. While the add on the front holder could have been refused, they dealership was very likely legally obligated to provide some sort of front license plate mount.
