For my olympus, pluggin in the USB is much easier and faster than opening up the battery compartment to retreive the XD card, reboot my laptop into BIOS and reinable the multi-card reader, boot back into windows and transfer pictures.

you are forgetting some people do not HAVE card readers!!!! but everyone has USB/firewire, what now huh huh huh!? ALSO some cameras liek my sisters and my old cam have docking stations! i can plop down my cam into the dockign stationa nd it is isnatntly connected to my comp faster than a card reader would! also you claim you will break the connectors or hey even the door/rubber cover? but opening and closing the card slot and pushign and pulling the card won't also damage it AND/OR the media card?!?!?!
complain about something that makes more sense next time.

I can understand a video camera with IEEE-1394 but a still camera???!
It's so much easier and faster to slam the CF/SD/MS whatever into a reader and BAM!
Not to mention those connectors on the cameras will break then what's Johnny gonna do?![]()

You're wrong about that. I can click the simple mini USB connector into my camera, quicker than you can remove your fragile card. And, if your card has umpteen pins connecting it to the camera, you risk bending one every time you remove it.
