Same here. It was really the only viable solution for my TV viewing needs and has performed exactly as I expected it to.

Not being sarcastic, I have no idea.

It's really quite simple... You can watch your tv at home ANYWHERE in the country as long as you have a internet connection or a cellphone that symbian OS, windows mobile, and some other things.

You can control pretty much any setup cable box you have. Set top is ridiculously easy and simple. Definitely worth the money even though people say "just use orb". This is a tiny little box that connects seamlessly to your set top cable box, DVR, TIVO, or DVD player if you wanted too (not sure why). I use it all the time on my cell phone (XV6800) to watch laker games or even NFL games when I'm away from the TV out and about.

From You've Got Mail

[Frank to Sidney-Ann during television interview] Technologically speaking, the world's out of hand. Take the VCR. The whole idea of a VCR is that it makes it possible for you to tape what's on television while you're out of the house. But the whole point of being out of the house is so you can miss what's on television.

i know orb was bad for that, but i had no idea it was that bad.

My brother in law controls a media server for music that connects to the receiver that also connects to the tv and speakers while browsing the internet.....

Run-on, I know. I guess he made his own sling box.

I know someone who lives out of the Bay Area who uses a Slingbox at a friends house in the Bay Area to watch 49ers games (I do not foresee any other reason for me to use a Slingbox, but, then again, there are many things I now would not want to live without that I did not foresee needing (a PVR for one).)

It is also good for people who do not want to pay for cable and have family or friends willing to let them set up a Slingbox at their home.

Slingbox is probably great. I use orb. Good enough for me. It's a little glitchy, but for free, it can't be beat! :)

I can watch football on my computer at work when I work on Saturdays....

I'm not on the road with work and I dont watch TV at work, so a Slingbox is of no use to me.

Yep. We have a Slingbox connected to a DVR in a spare bedroom.

This allows friends and family in Australia to watch/record American TV. The quality probably isn't the best but for the price, they're not complaining.

Award for most interesting idea.
