Why do people have such a hard time understanding what a Slingbox does?

Yep. We have a Slingbox connected to a DVR in a spare bedroom.

This allows friends and family in Australia to watch/record American TV. The quality probably isn't the best but for the price, they're not complaining.

we use our slingbox to virtualize outdated servers in vmware. physical server A dd dumps to slingbox, which then slings the image into vmware esx server.

7/8ths of people think that the Internet is some magical place where elves type up web pages and hand deliver emails to all the boys and girls of the world.

To be able to watch TV over the Internet would mean these elves would have to wear costumes and act in 100's shows or movies, and this...to them....is impossible.
