Many people also have no idea how to set up and fine tune a windows installation though. I haven't installed Vista yet, hope to do that by the end of the month, but I've tweaked XP Pro many times.
Thus far, my only experiences with Vista were in Beta 1 and a friend's laptop. His 1.6Ghz Celeron M, Radeon Xpress IGP, and 512MB RAM ran Vista slower than molasses in January, taking a few minutes to finish loading the desktop after logging on. After I played with it a big, removed McAfee AV and turned off all the GUI features mainly, it ran quite well.
