why do people hate terrorists so much?

wasn't the contental army and the minuteman a bunch of insurgents as far as the british were concerned. they don't refer to it as the american revolution they call it the english civil war. is it because civillians get killed? when we firebombed dresden we killed thousands of civillians so they couldn't make munitions and we were heros for it. but when the iraqis kill some civilians that are moving munitions there suddenly evil terrorists? wwII kakazies earn respect and get a drink named after them but suicide bombers are evil terrorist extremests? i'm willing to be suicide bombers get better kill ratios so why don't they get 2 drinks named after them. my town has a parade every year to celebrate a guy who tried to buy a weapon off an enemy soldier but was tar and feathered for it. hell we have a school named after him. its ok for us americans to use british weapons against the british but other countries are evil for using american weapons against americans.

i don't like it there. people there are more ignorrent and closed minded than me and thats pretty hard to do. i'm always willing to look at something from another angle if someone can make a convincing argument.

The difference between these situations is the purpose behind them. Also some of your comparisons aren't very good.

-The minutement and continental army were in response to the chokehold that the english had on the Americans. Among other reasons, (to summarize) the English were using America as a way to profit themselves while giving nothing to the Colonies. Nothing as in, no control over their own politics, their own economy, and their own 'foreign policy' and trading.

-the Dresden munitions plant was firebombed because it was critical to cut off the munitions supply to the German army, who was overtaking other countries and killing those in their way, commiting genocide and killing civilians. The lives of a small number of civilians, while never a fair loss, was acceptable to stop the Germans from killing tens of thousands of other civillians and soldiers.

-The difference between a terrorist and a soldier is that one looks to protect while the other looks to do whatever it takes to benefit themselves.

-A Japanese kamikaze pilot is an outdated and unfair comparrison. In the times of WWII, the Japanese government was looking to dominate the Pacifc area and like Germany would do whatever it takes to make this happen. You ARE right, there really isn't much difference between this and a terrorist, but that was in much different times when Japan was an Empire (I think).

-Using force and fear to declare your dominance over another person or country is one thing, using the power that you or your country has to defend and protect others is much different. It's like saying shooting a person who is hurting a friend and shooting a person who just doesn't like your friend are the same thing.

sounds like your post pretty much belongs there, i think, in actuallity, they would have much better responses then the flames youll get here, then again, your just ranting, not really looking for an answer

The line between freedom fighter and terrorist is, unfortunately dubious. Instead of brushing people aside as evil with the title terrorist, I prefer to look at it more pragmatically: there are those who'd like to kill westerners, and as such westerners would do well to see that the others are killed first.

If we didn't hate them, we wouldn't be calling them "terrorists." We would be calling them "rebels" or "separatists" or "guerillas" or "contras" or "fighters."
