Why do people hate realplayer?

What is wrong with realplayer that people can't stand it? I have it and it works fine, doesn't cause any probs as far as i can tell. Is it like spyware or something?
 
Bad program, bad history. Couple years ago it was caught sending unauthorized information about the user back to the company.
 
really bad history. in the early day of the net if was one of the most annoying spyware ridden obnoxious programs around. taking over your associations, your home page etc, during install it would take over your system.
 
It sucks. It loads a bunch of useless programs every time Windows starts. It bogs down your computer. It spys on you. If I see anything that requires real player I deem it unworthy of watching.

it used to load lotsa spyware on your pc in the past.
also i think it was caught sending unauthorized user statistics.
also very very slow application since it loads a bunch of useless sh!t on your pc.
 
I think there's one called Real alternative (you could try Google, or other Real threads, there are a few programs that you can use instead IIRC)

then there are ads and stupid e-mail?? why would iw ant real sending me ad-filled e-mails to my real player!!!! Adds a buncha useless crap to startup etc!

Everytime you RealPlayer runs, it activates a TSR to run on startup. You have to go into msconfig and disable it every damn time you run it.

RealPlayer Alternative is nice. But you still need RealPlayer to stream sites that require RealPlayer.

Simply put, it's bloatware and it's spyware. And it also is pretty crappy performance-wise.
