Why do people hate Dr. Phil?

I never bothered to watch him on TV and I don't know anything more than the fact that he finds wackjob families and tries to fix them. However, it seems that whenever I hear people speak about him, it's usually along the lines of "he's a douche."

But why exactly do people hate him?

Why hate anyone? People hate him b/c he's human and we're human. It's human nature to hate

I admire his ability to tell people what they dont want to hear, in a way that they listen and he doesnt insult them. He is extremely diplomatic. I wish i had 1/2 of his ability to talk the way he does (I grew up with 5 sisters).

I dont hate him. I enjoy watching his show from time to time when the topic is interesting to me. Personally, I think he is quite good at approaching different situations on a base level, getting to the meat of the problem, and then offering up very viable solutions. Alot of his approach is common sense, but then again we all see things differently from the outside looking in😉

I just don't like his whole deal, like most talkshows, because all he does most of the time is slap some idiotic guest in the face with some common sense.

Oh no! A sob story from some pathetic mom about how her 2 year old son weighs 95lbs! Please help her Dr. Phil!
"You need to stop feeding him so many quarter pounders."
/Audiance stands up and cheers.

Dr. Phil is not very convincing. I've watched him a few times and he had absolutely nothing new to say to anyone that I am sure wasn't already said a dozen times.

Because the average show turns out as follows:

Video shown. Usually of drunk family member attacking another one physically in front of their kids, but it can be anything really... as long as kids are involved.
Dr. Phil saying "Hey. Don't do that. Your kids are there. What kind of environment are you creating for them by allowing them to see your actions?"
The family thanking Dr. Phil for setting them straight.

It's all just common sense.

People typically do not like him because some think he's a hypocrite. He gives advice on relationships and marriage, yet he's been divorced and remarried himself.

Some say thats the kind of person who should be giving advice. Others say he has no right to give advice because he's been divorced so why should anyone listen to him.

Personally, I have no opinion of him.

Exactly. He pretends to care about and want to help people, when in reality he's just pandering to his audience: women.
