Why do people hate Barry Bonds?

Because he is an ass. Even before the steroids and when he played for the pirates he was not a likeable guy.
 
1. He's a racist.
2. He's an ass towards his teammates
3. He's an ass towards the fans.
4. He's an ass towards the media.
5. He's a cheater on the 'roids.
6. He's a cheater on the 'roids and continues to lie about it.
7. He's about to be indicted on criminal charges.
etc etc.

Along with McGuire and Sosa, he's responsible for warping our view of all the hallowed records of baseball. The roids era makes a mockery of the achievements of all those who played before them.
 
When he was scouted before the majors, everyone said he would be a great player but will extra baggage.

Why was this thread even created?

The problem with people like the creater of this thread, is that they assume we blame only Bonds for all the problems in the game. No, I hate Bud Selig, I hate Donald Fehr, Mark McGuire, Rafael Palmiero, etc. etc. etc. And I care not for all the defenders of the cheaters who continue to reitterate that Bonds has never tested positive for steroids and thus we should all embrace and appreciate all that he has done for baseball - which includes nearly the entire payroll of ESPN (can anyone say Joe Morgan?).

Imagine this. Ever since you were a little boy, you thought girls were great! You've grown up following the poon as if you'd die without it. You worship the poon, dream about it, and aspire to be all up in it as much as possible. Imagine your horror one day when you find out that it's not really a poon, its just some dude turned around backwards.

That's how millions of people feel about baseball, and Barry Bonds is the ass that ruined the dream.

Personally, I never could force myself to like baseball although I've tried many times out of guilt of being an American who hates baseball, but I can empathize with those who found the American Pastime pissed on by cheaters.

Why do people hate him? Mostly bandwagon. There are plenty of other sports stars who are more deserving of our ire. PokerGuy's list could apply to a LOT of players, if you think about it...
