Do you honestly believe these candidates, or republicans/democrats in general give a damn about you?

Mostly because the decisions and choices of said politics has a direct impact on our feedoms, taxes, and overall well being. Do most thinl the politicans give a shit about us? Not really... it's kind of what is going to do the least damage to my life.

The better question is why so many people don't get worked up over who will be governing them but do get worked up over which set of strangers wins a football game.

Definitely this.

Politics can have a pretty big impact on your life, or the lives of other people. Elections usually have a whole host of issues that directly affect a lot of people where the choice you make can definitely change the effect. People get worked up about a lot less...

They do give a damn about you. That's why they become politicians.

Of course in the case of Republicans, the "you" they give a damn about are the upper class, the people they call the "makers".

I don't get as worked up over the national races as I do with the local races. In local races small contributions of either time or money can make a huge difference. You can actually meet and talk with the candidates and decide not to vote for the ones that don't honestly answer questions. Think and act locally.

I'd definitely agree with that. And local races tend to involve a lot more people you absolutely wouldn't want running anything since the bar to entry is so much lower than on the national level. It's harder to get into national politics being a complete wackjob (with a few exceptions), but such people are pretty easy to find at the local level. You can pay attention all you want at the national level, but things can still go bad if your local school board of city council or whatever is being filled with idiots while you're not paying attention.

Why would I care if politicians care about me? I didn't come here to get cared for, I came to give it. Try not to be upside down.

No its because I know they DONT give a damn about me that I get all pissed off.
Those cocksuckers are using our tax dollars to party and goof off and even worse, start pissing contests with the whole fuckin country to shift blame from themselves and then they kiss our butts every 4 years so they can do it all over again.

The only people I hate more are American voters who never freakin learn and keep reelecting the assholes honestly thinking things might get different this time.

What about people who never learn this is going to happen every time? Wouldn't they be the biggest fools of all?

Why do people get so worked up over Politics?

Politics represents our largely peaceful alternative to forceful violence.

Perhaps people care because folks in politics want to control our lives, and they do so regularly.
