I never understood why some people like food so much. My fiancee's the same way. She's thin, but it still bothers me. In my opinion, food is a necessity only, and eating stuff that's bad for you is rediculous.

Maybe you eat bad tasting food. I love food, it's one of the joys of life and I'm not about to deprive myself of it.

Whenever I think I'm to full, I remember that if I take off my pants...I can eat even more!

Our bodies to this because we are animals, and our body thinks that food may not always be accessible. Think back to the time of the cave man, if he only ate enough to sustain himself when food was available, then he would starve to death in the winter when it was scarce. humans have not yet evolved out of this stage.

Man eating a salad before meals is good, but watch what you eat. Some of the salad dressing is as bad as a greasy hamburger.

Just make sure to eat a good breakfast, a small lunch, and a light dinner. Don't starve urself because u want to loose weight. When u starve ur body thinks u are in a famine or something so it slows its metabolism way down.

Maybe the chemical released when your stomach is full to tell your brain that you're not hungry anymore isn't getting released?

Yeah, red dressings are pretty bad, ranch isn't much better. Some of the diet versions are a bit better. Vinegar based dressings are the best for you.

And ditto on not starving yourself. But before you ever get to the point of your body going into emergency mode, you'll go off the diet. You'll get sick of constant hunger and give in to 24 hour grocery stores. :p The best is to continue eating the quantity that sates your apetite, but better foods for you.

millions of years of evolution > a couple thousands of years of civilization.

In the old days: eat lots and you might make it through the winter.
Now, winter has very little to do with the availability of food. Just go to the grocery store.

Most people have this urge to clear their plate. Whether this be from their parents, or just not wanting to waste food. Typically, people take more than what they should eat, and due to this urge usually eat it all.

Solution? Just take less. Order less when you eat out. Share you meal with a SO or friend. Works great.

Good words, and dont supersize your stuff either. Do you really need a gallon of coke with a half-pound of fries? A medium or small coke will suffice.

I think the drawbacks of eating unhealthy do not warrant the benefits of eating bad food. It only takes a few minutes to eat a piece of chocolate cake, but then you have 40 grams of fat and 500 extra calories in your stomach. Of course, like I said, taken in moderation it's OK to an extent, but I still don't think it's worth it. The problem is, most people don't just stop at one piece of cake, and eat bad food much more often than they should.

You're fighting natural impulses, of course. There is a reason your brain says this food tastes good and carrots or brocolli less so. Its because its high calorie. Think of how big a concern famine and finding food was back when we were tossing spears at huge bison and eating crud off of rocks to survive. Its these same drives at play, when the food is in front of you, your brain still says, no matter how fvcking fat you are "EAT THAT SH|T! I DUNNO WHEN MY NEXT MEAL IS COMING!"

I agree :)

Exactly, so when they did have something to eat, they made sure to gorge themselves and eat as much as they possibly could at the moment. Like you said, they ate what they could when they could. Eating a reasonable amount and leaving leftovers was not a consideration.

I don't think so. I seriously doubt they gorged themselves at any point. The food they had needed to last a while. I'm sure they didn't eat everything all at once, but over the span of a few days, while it was still edible. If they ate everything in one large meal, they'd starve.

And oh, American portions are HUGE. I can normally eat one Americanized portion for at least 2.5 meals.

Sometimes, when you think you're hungry, you probably are only dehydrated. Your brain cannot differentiate between hunger for food or hunger for water (I read that somewhere, and I can show you the article if I can remember where to find it).

Bottomline:
Eat smaller portions, and feel free to eat more than 3 meals a day if you do this.

Exactly my point. Just make sure your meals include a portion or protein and a portion of carbs. Eat 2 or more portions of veggies during the day as well. One portion is the size of your palm or fist.

I don't eat bad tasting food. I just don't see food as a pleasure tool like some people. That's why people get fat. Don't deprive yourself of it, but if you're overweight, then you're just being rediculous by eating food that's bad for you.

No. He would save the food so he wouldn't starve to death in the winter. People are meant to graze, not over indulge.

The best thing to do is to get the dressing on the side and dip the salad into the dressing, just a little. You'll end up eating less dressing that way.
