I don't cheat in games against other people. I fail to see how it is fun to beat somebody because you have an aimbot.

In some single-player FPS's, I have used cheat codes on certain levels. Sometimes, I just get tired of trying to get past the same level over and over and over. It's not that I don't like a challenge, it's just that I get frustrated and tired of a certain point in the game so I cheat so I can move on to the next part.

In Rogue Spear for instance, there was one stealth mission where you have to sneak through the building without being seen. After trying many times, I turned on invisibility just so I could move on to the next level. I hate non-shooting levels in a game that is all about shooting.

After I've beaten a game fair and square then all bets are off. I'll cheat my ass off to get all of the prizes and secret levels. But I always finish the game first for the challenge aspect of it.

multiplayer cheaters should just go to hell. My reasoning behind why they cheat is simple.... they just suck.

I used to cheat in Doom 1 but that was of course only against the comp. Get god mode, all weapons and then start blowing stuff up with rockets. Best way to end a stressful day

Same here. I refuse to walk around a map for 5 hours trying to find some obscure switch to open a door. I'll use a walk through guide or something to find that switch and move on with the game.

Outside of that though, I find no entertainment or redeaming value out of cheating against other real players. I take pride in beating someone fair and square.

I hope you still love me.

Damnit, I'm never speaking to you again!

I only cheat in games that don't affect others and I do so because I want to see what all the game has to offer but don't have the time to otherwise.

War Craft III took forever even with cheats I can't imagine beating it without!:D

Some people, myself included, don't get off on the "challenge" of video games. Some people will spend hundreds of hours getting good at a game, and they really like that. They like to see themselves get better and "figure out" the game. My roommate can do that. I usually play for a couple hours and then get bored, and start cheating. Of course, I usually don't invest that much time in it either, and I'll probably get bored with it about 100 times faster... And that's why i don't buy RPGs.

While I'm sure most people are far better than I am, I have seen people do things that I'm sure they cheated at.

I'll get onto a server and follow differnt players for a while before joining the game. One might go around five corners quietly, then go around the next one with his gun blazing. What a surprise - someone was waiting there! I assume there are cheats to let you see through walls. Otherwise, why was he shooting?

Or I might be hiding somewhere, and someone comes around a corner very far away and kills me instantly. Even if they knew I was there, I think you might need more than a tenth of a second to spin around, aim, and fire with 100% accuracy time after time. You'd think everyone would miss a long shot once in a while.

I also have suspicions about people having superhuman (but not complete) resistance to bullets/grenades, but I don't know enough about that.

I've been playing MOHAA online since its release and you started playing at a very bad time. Cheating is everywhere now. The 2 most common are the wallhack and aimbot. Honestly, if you are using a wallhack, you really don't need an aimbot, but people do it anyways. I never get into a fit and start accusing people of cheating(even when I know they are). I just join the team the cheater(I only play team DM) is on and keep bashing him in the head with my pistol. It sometimes takes 10-15 minutes but the cheater will get irritated and leave. There is no way of knowing an aimbot, but you can detect wallhacks easy by just spectating them. They will always be looking into walls and on many occasions, they try to shoot through them(It's hard for them to tell what is and isn't a wall). Needless to say, I fvckin hate online cheaters.

Single player is another deal. All preference here. I play a game up until I'm stuck and use a cheat/walkthrough to get by that particular part, then go on as normal with the game. A friend of mine won't play any game without sticking GOD mode in right off the bat. He claims he doesn't have time to die and restart. IMHO, he ruins the whole game by no longer making it a game, but more an "interactive movie". I see no point to a game that has absolutly no challenge.

Is reading a walkthrough cheating in single player?

If so, forgive me for I have sinned.

I only cheat in single player once I've beat the game. The only time I've ever used a walkthrough was on the Jungle map in Jedi Knight II.

Never cheated in Multiplayer.

Cheating is boring. Takes all of the "game" out of a game. The only game I ever cheated on was Delta Force after I already beat the game. Went into God mode with unlimited ammo. That held my interest for about 10 minutes; it's boring when you can't lose.

I cheat like a little bastard in a single player game if I get my butt kicked after trying it several times. Otherwise...there's no reason to cheat in multiplayer games, it just makes you look like a smacktard.

because it's fun to win

In a game like PSO? You aren't fighting each other.

Oh, uh...what's PSO?

Anyway, some people want to win no matter what.

Phantasy Star Online. Its like a 3D diablo with more multiplayer features.

I regularly consulted spoiler sites when I played EverQuest. Spending a real-life month figuring out a quest only to find that the reward is not useable by you or sellable/tradeable to other players would be commonplace without it (and *is* commonplace for the pioneers who figure this stuff out after the release of a new expansion). That's a little too much of an investment, imo. As Everquest is mostly about character advancement and not PvP, I don't consider it cheating against other players. Cheating to "win" against other players is very different, imo, from cheating to avoid frustration and/or large time investments.
