Why do people call tech support with music blaring in the background?

And they can't turn it off, they have some really sh!tty band in their basement that is renting space & playing REALLY LOUD. And because the're renters & paying, they can't make them shut up.

And they wonder why they can't hear me.

Cause those fsckers blast their music in my ear when I am on hold for 2 hours waiting for their unhelpful Tech Support :)

Viper: Just speak very softly and get even more quiet when they say "Huh, whaddayajussay?!?" Eventually they figure to turn down the crap in the back.

Y'know what I wanna do? Even though I don't use AOL anymore, I remember they're crappy customer service. Here's my plan: When I finally get on the line with someone, every time they ask a question (I do mean EVERY time), ask them to hold, then put on the most offensive and loud music possible (even better if I can connect my sound card directly to the phone like in some of the newer models). After they get my name, address, and other important info after about a half hour and they realize that I'm not a customer, I ask them to hold while I "transfer them to one of our managers to figure out why I don't appear in their customer database". Put on bad music for an hour, get some lunch, come back, say sorry but the manager is away, please call back later, and hang up.

Could this work? ;)

Just return the favor - blast a few of your MP3s while you talk to them, they might get the point ;[/b])

I think it is because they have spent too much money on their speakers and they can't then afford a cordless phone, then they turn up the music real loud to drown out the elevator music that plays during their long wait for tech support, and then once they are on the phone with the tech support, they are stuck to the wall and can't move cuz they are actually talking to a person.
