Why do people buy movies instead of renting them?

I buy most of mine at CD World used. They usually only cost 5.99 and I only buy movies I know I'll watch more than once. Pretty close to the same price as a rental and I get to keep it.

I buy some TV series sets while they are on sale, watch them, and then sell on half.com for little loss or sometimes even profit! The other DVDs are usually bought on sale for cheap that it would probably cost the same to rent them and one time I just really wanted to see something, so it didn't matter the cost.
