I mean, people just don't listen to him at all, and it amazes me how in the end, they either blame him for their failures in life or just refuse to acknowledge that trying it His way might actually be of a benefit to them.

Better yet, they're quick to torture, persecute, or just plain insult anyone looking to follow Him.

Anything great that you could come up with, any great creation or great idea or great accomplishment by man, God has done before. He created everyone and everything, yet few give him proper respect. By "weak" people, these aren't really the weak in physical stature, but spiritually weak, in terms that they rely on their own selves more than they would on anything else.

really, I'd rather be a sheep than a lemming. If you're not following God, you're following someone else.

Your thoughts here.

You know that lemmings don't actually commit mass suicide, right?
And if you're not following god, who's to say you have to follow anyone?
And how do you know god is male?

yes, I do... just as sheep aren't actually mindless...
if you follow no one, aren't you yourself choosing to do that? so then, you're following yourself.
God created man in his own image.... not "her" own image.
Because a book written by many men who lived in societies that treated women as property say so?

the men didn't treat the women that way, the societies did. I mean, did Jesus blend in and get along with everyone in his society?

BTW, this is a load of crap. The torture, persecution, and insults begin when the followers start trying to bully others into being sheep (to use your terminology).

No, most Christians aren't as loud-mouthed as this one. Most are more humble and don't seek to push their beliefs onto the rest of mankind. It's the vocal minority that needs to learn humility.

hey man, no worries, I'm just balancing the equation...
No, you're perpetuating the whole thing. If people like you would just STFU for five minutes about God, the rest of us might not give you so much grief about the whole thing. You believe in God. I don't. Live and let live and go have a sandwich.

Haha, well that is NOT proof God is "male." I am a pretty faithful Christian, and I will be the first to admit that we know a lot less about God than some people would like to believe. The words "own image" could mean anything, besides the Bible has been re-written by man. The Bible should NOT be taken literally when it comes to things like this.

There are no facts when it comes to a belief in make-believe beings. It's all faith. And "Homey don't play dat"
Actually, conjur, you aught to do some research on the Story of Fatima (Fatima, Portugal, 1910's), there are several books on the subject. Beware, there are a lot of inaccuracies (on BOTH sides) around the net.
That's false on its face as Mary wasn't a virgin. That's just a mistranslation.

That has absolutley nothing to do with what I am talking about. 😕

Yeah, I acknowledge this, my generalization was in jest and a counterpart to the OP's.

Uh... I don't believe it's possible to follow yourself, unless you've got a time machine.
Why is it important to you that your god not only have a gender, but it must be male?

Hey, I live not far from Six Flags Over Jesus (Southeast Christian...an arena of a church that holds over 10,000). There certainly are plenty of zealots. But, then there are people like my sister, who converted to Greek Orthodox. She's very religious and strongly believes in her faith but doesn't push it on anyone.

Can I ask you an honest question?

Would you feel comfortable letting a doctor perform a major operation on you with 18th century medical technology/methodology?

There's your problem.

The Bible was written by many men over a long period of time and incorporated stories from several cultures.

People like you who take it literally are the ones twisting the Bible. The Bible is merely a means of recounting the human condition and a struggle to maintain faith in God at all times. Nothing more.

It just feeds into the Church's deification of an average woman. Just like they deified Jesus who was merely another preacher.

"Taken into account" does not equal the Bible should be taken literlally. The Bible was written so common could read it. Try explain how a motherboard works to someone who lived 5000 years ago.

sure, give me the chalk...

My thoughts ....

When I was 5 I stopped beliving in god.
When i was 6 I stopped believing in Santa Claus.

Santa Clause had more proof of existance since he at least gave me presents every year.

I remember when I was younger, my parents used to make me go to Sunday school every sunday, and I would always hide in the crawl space of the house hoping that they wouldn't force me to go to that horrible place that i loathed, or at the very least, that we would be substancially late. Finally when I was 8 they stopped forcing me to go to that dreadfully boring place.

Since then I have been a happy Atheist.

I shall now say an overused cliche .... To each his own.

Those of us that do not believe in god aren't running away from god or any other crap like that. We simply have decided that there is no logical reason to believe, and don't like going on faith alone.

To those that have their faith: Please don't take your gods too seriously and literally. The world does not need to repeat any past mistakes such as the Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, Salem Witch Trials, or any other useless holy wars and battles.

If you guys go easy on us, and we both learn to keep our mouths shut most of the time, I'm sure we will all learn to get along.

Ezekiel 25:17
The path of the righteous man means he should eliminate rasholianmon, for trolls should be punished, and they will know I am the lord.

I'm lost, or rather you are. Serioulsy, you aught to read up on the whole story. Ask your sister if she is aware of any of it. The story has been twisted a bit (for purposes which you just brought up), but from a scientific POV (find a book called "Meet the Witnesses") it is VERY interesting.
