Why do people allow themselves to be offended by various things?

Seriously, I can't even fathom being offended by something. Why do you care? You look silly when you take offense to something. Just don't let it bother you.

*runs around with arms flailing* "OMG - I'm so offended by that picture of a demon on that t-shirt! I'm going to tell everyone I know about it and I'm going to let it dominate my thoughts for a full hour. If only I didn't care about it. Too bad I'm offended."
