Why do PC Cases suck?

Oh! Just to let you know, I have the Q500. Ya! I think I would go with the S500 over the A500 if I got a midtower.

Re

First of all, cases are designed and made for "ordinary" people, not for ultimate overclockers. I'm quite sure though, that there are quite a few companies have realized the same as you did, so you CAN get cases with huge amount of space and cooling system. The best example i think is CRYOTECH, they do amazing stuff. So i guess you have to make a choice between a spacecous tuning, and a good lookin' crappy case 🙁.

Secondly it'be quite a bad idea to put a case togeather from plastic, cos' it's well-known, that the aluminium cases are the best when it comes to heat relase. I suggest you to have an open case with alloy frames, if you're an overclocker. If you want any better:go for the proffessional stuff, and don't go below a tower case.

Last bit: there is huge difference between COOLING and BLOWING hot air. So the idea to have an open case and a huge fan right next to it: perhaps not the best sollution, but does the job if you use your tuned beauty only at home. If you do so: why would you bother about any case, but if you wanna go to parties and show off: get a decent tower.

Am I the only one who still wants a DESKTOP case? Sit the monitor down on top of it, but still have at least two 5.25" and three 3.5" drives? I think it's mre than reasonble... it's just a tower on its side! I'd rather have it on my desk and in front of me and sitting on the floor where I bump into it, or on the desk taking up space!

Do they still sell desktop ones? 🙂 I'm interested too. Kinda used to having the computer right in front on the desk, back in the old days, when I thought pressing the turbo button gives my comp extra power. hehe.

I couldnt give a rats a$$ what my case looks like, as long as its easy to add/remove components and has lots of air flow.

>>"But the YY mini-server cube is pretty sweet, and for those with more morbid tastes, it even comes in black"

damn straight...i love it. i got one and haven't looked back. (and yes, i DO have the black one, i guess i have morbid tastes.)

hrm.. I should post the case i made out of wood...
looks nice, cooling.. =-(..
Didn't have it overclocked or anything, just made it for the hell of it.

Need to scan my picture..

Scifione mentioned the Q500 from InWin. I've had the A500 for a few years, and it's been nothing but pleasant. However, I'd like to move to a full tower for more room, better cooling, etc...

Does anyone know how many fan placements are built into the Q500? I'd probably customize it anyway, but just wanted to see if anyone knew. The Antec SX1030 looks similar. Of course, if I had the money, I'd order the SuperMicro 750A. That just plain rocks. 🙂

where can i get info on that chenbro cube? i did some research on the chenbro genie a while ago and i think its one of the most kickass cases available, albeit expensive.

lemme see if i can find a link....

Hmmm, Interesting...

As we speak a new design is in my CAD program, almost done. Next comes the prototypes and fesability tests. Maybe in a couple months I can let you all see it. I have a lot of the guys at MSX International eager to built the first proto (they build a lot of the prototype cars you see at auto shows. 🙂

It will be different than anything you have seen so far, I think.

I'm hoping to hit the christmas season, but I think that schedule may be to tight, everything would have to go perfect.

bluemax

i was one of those people who wanted a desktop case. Then i bought an antec ks780. Probably one of the best desktop cases you can buy. There was only one thing that sucked. By putting my monitor on top, it took up more space since, i couldn't shove my keyboard under the front of the monitor. I dont think desktop will ever work for atx since the cases are just too deep. With at it was dope, and those priorietary or nlx cases are just awesome. Now i'm just using a microatx, since i guess it takes up the least space
