Why do older folks refrain from drinking out of a can?

My whole life I've noticed my parents don't drink out of a can ever... i just re-realized that when i grabbed a can of soda and my mom handed me a cup... is it bc they dont want to cut their lips on the cans? anyone not drink out of a can wanna share?

Think about it. Cans sit in boxes and warehouses for months on end, they are transported all over the country and handled many times by people who after touching something that your mouth will go on you might not want to drink or eat off of.

Have you ever really looked at the top of a can before you pop the top and put it to your lips?

yes -- cans are dirty.

once, i bought one of those 99cent amazon iced tea cans. i was so excited and opened it right away. i noticed that the taste was ... uh, abornmal at best. i looked down on the can and saw dishwasher detergent all over it.

so gross.

i still do drink from a can, but if i can, i drink from a cup, and i'm always more careful.

my parents would recommend against drinking from a can only because of germs.

Edit-I usually just wash the top of the can off before I pop the top if I don't have a glass handy. 😉

Yes. That's why I ALWAYS clean the top of cans thoroughly before drinking.
 
I refuse to drink beer from a can. I want it in a bottle or fresh from a tap. Though it's because generally, it's better that way. (I do drink the Guinness that comes in a can, but I pour it to a glass first to ensure a proper head)

That says it right there, not to mention the pesticides that are sprayed in the warehouse to kill the roaches, etc.. that are crawling all over the cans. And the guys in the factory who spit on them & take a leak on them just because they know someone will be drinking out of them.

Does anyone remember the pull tabs??? The tab actually removed, with the little finger ring completely from the can. Anyone??? Anyone???

one was big and the other was smaller for air flow. ahhh...pepsi.
