i find most people ask for discounts cause more then likely there is one available for them.

In the vast majority of service retail places i've worked (granted not many) and many of the places i've been shopping at (not all, like Best Buy) have some sort of discount program. Even when selling pain there was a discount, and when working as a painter, my contracter offered discounts.
