why do non-geeks pay for fast computers?

I just upgraded and THe wife is getting my 1.7 GHz SHe is pretty excited and she does web brousing and email.

Even thing like that ore quicker.

A metro will get you to work but the nicer car makes the ride Nicer.

I think they're being patriotic, you know, by buying new stuffs. Think what will happen to the tech industry if people won't uprade their 400MHz box? AMD, intel, Microsoft, ATi, nVidia and all the rest will go down hard, which mean thousands and thousands of Asian workers will be out of a job!

I thought about finding my dad a cheap computer instead of getting him something that was fast. However, he started playing Red Alert, Yuri's Revenge, and Age of Empires 2. My dad (51) plays video games more than I (24) do.
