why do my mp3's randomly skip ahead?

Every 10 minutes or so when I am listening to an mp3 it will skip ahead 5 seconds or so. It happens randomly on different mp3's. Then I will re-listen to the song and it is perfect so it's not the actual mp3's that are bad.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
 
you may have already done this .. but try and reinstall the drivers for four sound card ... it may help ... i had a problem similar to this a while back on one of my boxes that a simple driver reinstall helped.
