hahah. I'm the same way. I hardly carry cash on me. I always use my debit/credit cards. This way, I don't spend cash on useless things that I normally won't buy. I can pull out 20 bucks to buy something worth like say 5. Next thing you know I just bought my kid some candy and silly toys.

And I was worrying I'm not married. Looks like I don't know what real problems are yet. Of course, the bad thing is I don't have any love (no wife, no kids). It's a matter of what's more important I guess. However, since women look at me as if I were literally a POS lying under their feet and they're trying their best not to step in it accidentally, heck, I don't know there's no woman for me in this world, nobody. This sucks.

Carry $30 and emergency $20.

Mainly use CC (frequent flier points) and refuse to pay ATM fees.

I don't like to carry cash. I would rather use plastic and write a check at the end of the month. I carry usually $5 or so in case I want a soda, but have been known to only have $0.50 on me at any given time.

Married with a 3 and 1 year old. I rarely have cash. I don't like to keep it on me otherwise I'll spend it on stupid stuff like chinese food.

I usually don't carry anything more than a 20. But most of the time I raid the wife's purse for that, I usually leave her with no money. :)

I dunno, I just don't like a giant wad of cash in my wallet... I want as small of a wallet as possible anywho.

I'm single and I know a lot of my single friends that are guys don't carry much cash either. Mebbe it's because we tend to use our CCs for everything and ATMs/banks are abundant.

I'd be very angry if someone raided my wallet. I keep a couple of dollars in there to buy gas if I'm in a shady area or tip the attendant. They don't take checks or CC at my barber. It's always good to have some cash around for just incase.

I always carry cash around. Its still too useful not to. I find that I'm far more reluctant to use the debit card than cash. With cash, I just buy what I need and thats it. With a debit card, Im too likely to pile more and more cause i dont feel like im spending any more. Not to mention you need cash when you have to split things among friends like a cab ride, a restaurant meal etc. And you simply cant use cash to buy certain "things".

While I do use my debit card for at least 50% of my purchases, I still like using cash at less "upstanding" establishments. Meaning hole-in-the-wall restaurants, Abduls gas station, etc.

Now the money part of my wallet serves as a receipt holder, until I can write in in my check register. Sometimes I wish I had cash, and I should since there's an ATM where I work. Just never take the time to get any out.

Same here...

I never carry cash more than say $20-60 at a time unless I am going to a club or something, then I carry a couple hundred for drinks, drinks, more drinks, :)

checkcards are much easier and you get a transaction history which is helpful for anything you can write off later.

I don't normally carry cash, it is just that my wallet seems to be a money magnet of late. :D Especially that new one you got for me. :)

He makes 5x what I do, yet he NEVER has money in his wallet. I'm not talking $100 or more...not even $5!

I have noticed this w/my boss, too, as well as most of the other guys in the office.

What do they have in common? All of them are Married With Children.

I understand they have bills and expenses. So do I. But they always open the wallet and say "Damn. My wife/kids/dog/cat raided my wallet again!"

WTH? Isn't your wallet "sacred space" or "off-limits?"

When I was cohabitating, my wallet was off limits as was her purse. You just don't go thru your wife's/GFs purse! It's private.

I'd be pissed if I thought I had money and my wallet was empty.

What's wrong w/you married guys?

I haven't read the thread, but it just isn't the case in my household.

I have ALWAYS earned my own spending money and I've always contributed to our joint finances. The Mister always has plenty of cash on hand. He's offered me an allowance but I've rarely used it, and when I do it's on things like furniture that we all use.

Why the fvck are you parents letting your kids get your money? You worked hard for it and only you should spend it. When I was a kid, I asked for money from my parents but they would never give it to me. Then after a few years, I just got my own job. Whenever they try to give me money, I never accept it. When/if i get kids, they are going to get their money the hard way.

If my fiance ever needed cash and I was not around, I would not be upset if she took some from my wallet. If I were there and she asked I would have said yes. I would just want to know about it afterwards so I did not go somewhere thinking I still had cash in my wallet when I actually did not.

Then again, I am not a paranoid misogynist like some people.

That's how I am.
I've also gotten quite a few 'really good' deals (car stuff, golf clubs, an older used car once) by offering someone $XX in cash right now for whatever they are selling.
