Why do I suck at Counterstrike?

There is practice involved, but a lot of it is just skill.

I played for like 2-3 weeks last summer and I was already topping out on random servers I would play on. Now, I'm in an OGL, IGL clan and I'd be almost constant 1st-2nd place until I started getting tired or had an off day.

Here are my strats. Rush, if they don't expect you, you have the advantage. If you're far away, learn to strafe, fire during the transition of moving back the other way. That, or if you're in position before he is, crouch and get your bead on where he is. Make the choice, will the guy slowly emerge? If so, bead on the corner of your shot. If he's gonna come running out, compensate for your reaction time. move your bead out a lil so when you see him and start shooting, your bullets will hit him.

If you're up close, its either crouch and have more accuracy to shoot him down, or jump-crouch around to cap his @ss. There you go. Some basic things. Also, learn to listen to sounds. The best players walk and listen. Once you're good and get to know a map, you'll know exactly where they are.

Well, ya could do it the wussy way and get a script, but more likely than not it won't work. There are no keys or combos that change ROF unless, of course, you're using a script. It's not too hard to burst, single shot, and full auto, it's an acquired skill. Just needs practice...

I have gone into semi automatic mode a few times before by hitting one of the keys and my firing pattern changed...for the worst as far as I'm concerned, everytime I hit the wrong key and slip into that firing mode I get my butt kicked because my shots space themselves out.
when the new game begins my firing mode returns back to full auto...has happened with pistols and the ak or M1

I try to think of a couple of things when I'm playing in a pub:

1.) Do the unexpected. Pubs don't usually have a lot of teamplay going on; everyone is doing their own thing just trying to get a kill. Do something that the other team won't expect you to do.

2.) Don't put yourself into a situation you can't get yourself out of. If there's one thing I've learned, don't trust anyone on a pub unless you know them or they're in your clan. Always watch your own back.

With the latest version you should be able to take the aim position and ride a player after you are killed to observe how he aims and moves, just keep watching the others primary better players and you will gain some knowledge. Than it's just duplicate what you saw the better players doing and watch their crosshair closely to see where they set it on opposing players when they are zeroing in on a kill.

hello I sucked at quake for the longest time so did I in CS! It takes lots of pratice! I have just reached the point now after 5 months of playing everyday that I am the best on the server at most time and still have days where I am the worst! You must learn to aim and move sideways! try to be sneeky which is very hard in 1.4, also when you are attacked up close try to circle your oppnent and if you run out of ammo use pistol or knife fast! Bind keys to your comfort! DO NOT RESORT TO CHEATING ! I HAVE NEVER CHEATED AND NEVER WILL! use the first person view see your oppenent strageys and counter them, most always do the same! This game is all about brains and reflexes!

I admin a q2, q3 ra, a dod, a jedi knight 2, and a CS server. Most games are easy to catch on too. I find CS has the longest learning curve. With 1.4 at least the damn bunny hopping is gone.

grrr... i hate that feature in 1.4 + people can see how much you really suck :-(

like what other people said... PRATICE!!!!! You have to learn the level so you know how to move around, flank etc. Like what other people said, learn to strafe, switch guns quickly. MOVE ALOT. Standing it one place for more then 5 seconds out in the open = death

Why am i giving advice? I SUCK and i been playing since beta 5. haha
