Why do I suck at ATOT searching?

I remember seeing a thread on the Fringe season premiere the other day. I didn't have a chance to finish watching it until this morning so I wanted to see what everyone thought about it. Search for "Fringe" = fail. Why is this so difficult? Granted I didn't get much sleep so I'm kind of coasting along but a simple search should not be this difficult. :p

Example

Yea, I just use google to search AT forums now and it works pretty good.

Nice. Like I said, early in the day or maybe I would have thought about using google instead of the forum's own search function... :p

"Fusetalk, THIS is a chicken. Ok?"

- "Got it."

"Fusetalk, find a chicken."

- "THERE'S A KITTY OUTSIDE OMG HELLO THERE KITTY!!!!"

They were supposed to switch to vBulletin like a year ago but it seems to be on eternal hold at the moment.

http://vbforums.anandtech.com/ They've been testing another import for the past few months...not sure why it takes so long.

IDK what's up with all you guys.

I left a vBulletin forum for this a while back and I couldn't be any happier. A couple bug fixes and FT is far superior.

vBulletin is prone to crashes, lacks security and is apparently prone to attacks. FT seems much more lightweight.

A couple? FuseTalk is an endless stream of bugs. FuseTalk has it's interface going for it, but that's about it. vB has many more features and expandability via add-ons.

FuseTalk has crappy security, is rarely updated, and support sucks (this isn't from me, but from administration) which is why the switch to vB is taking place. We'd be happy to stick with FT if it weren't for the bugs and security issues (couple of exploits demonstrated here on AT, remember Loki, and the avatar issue just a few weeks ago?).

I don't know what vB forums you've used, but all of ones I've used the past have been more stable and secure than FuseCrap.

IMO, they should lock down all the current forums, keep serving them to act as a searchable database (which, as we now know, is easier with google) and just start using the new forums for new shit.

people could still link to all the stuff here as a reference while new stuff got posted at the vbforums. i dont much give a damn about my post count so much as my join date, but even then, i could get over it. timewarps, shitty searching, etc is just getting way past old.

I find it easier to just search for threads via google than use fusetalk's search function

Agree to disagree?

The forums work just fine as is. Timewarping isn't a big deal. Yeah the search sucks sometimes but hey, at least it WORKS. I post at the Steam Forums and man, I like that place, but sometimes vBulletin is downright slow.

You're joking, right? Search is broken, everyone who actually wants to find newer threads is using Google.

The almighty Fusetalk search engine KNOWS that when you search for "X" you REALLY want information on "Y."

It's just so much smarter than you...
