"i have a 20 gig maxtor drive of which 6 gigs are used ( i came from a 4 gig). i found that all the stuff that i thought i needed more room for was just downloaded junk, that never gets used anymore. my mate with the same drive recently found 6 gigs of stuff to remove that was jsut unsed rubish. thats what the extra room is for, rubish that never gets used."

aint it the truth..

I just bought a IBM 75GXP 30GB, and I'm only using 5.85GB. Good to know I have it when I need it

If you are afraid of losing stuff. Try to partion the hd at least into two partitions... Put the os on one and the data on another. At least then when you want to go and reinstall windows... you will not lose 80 gig's of stuff. 🙂

hard drives (especially IDE ones) fail more often then a CD will (depends on if you damaged the CD). eventually, you're drive WILL die, and you won't be able to get ANYTHING off of it. however the time before it fails is usually pretty good, enough so, that you MIGHT have already upgraded before it even had a chance of failing.

Thats kinda what I ment. I mean if your HD will CRASH it will Crash with no remorse and no regret. :/ At least if you where having some OS problems, you could at least save something. 🙂
