Why do i itch insanely bad during a workout?

Today I could not even do 15 minutes on the treadmill until my head started itching so bad I was ripping my own hair out. I have used three different types of shampoo attempting to alleviate this problem.

My legs were itching badly too, but not enough to make me quit like my head itching...

any thoughts?
 
Sounds like urticaria. I get it too when I run in very humid cool weather. It's a reaction to the sweat. Try putting powder on the places you itch before working out. Helped me out.
 
it could just be really dry skin. do you use a conditioner? they also have like scalp treatments for dry skin
 
Do you use gel?

Some gels on my hair feel itchy when they start to bake in the sunshine, and I just stay away from those.
 
i agree howard, that is part of it, but up until a couple months ago i was working out 5 times a week and it was still a significant problem.

no gel.

I think I know what you're referring to. It happens to me when I get little sleep and/or get up very early in the morning to do intense cardio. My whole body starts itching. But if I get enough rest or work out later in the day, then it won't happen.
 
i've been having the same problem for the past couple years! during weight training or just going out for a run. my upper body or legs would just start getting really itchy, like.... BAD. it was horrible, i had no idea why it was happening. also i get moderately itchy when nervous.
 
it sounds like something's inflaming your sweat glands or something...

try using some baby soap-free body wash or shampoo... see if that helps.
