Dammit.. I was at KashNKarry today (only the biggest underage drinking distributor in Gainesville - we're talking selections of 60 different types of beer taking up a whole isle).. My roomate, like always, was buying beer.
And I just started thinking and getting madder and madder... My roomate's from France - supposedly not a free country... Yet, I have to wait to 21 to drink with nazi-like laws and they don't really care about a drinking age there.. He said it's 18 but it's treated like being 16 and going to an R-rated movie.. not exactly hard to buy beer.
For me to buy some goddamn beer, I would have to get a fake ID.. Thus, I'm encouraged to commit a felony.. The law is soo unfair! The United States is supposed to be a free country - yet it's getting more and more socialist every day.
In a free country, there should not be ANY laws which make a majority of the population law-breakers. (speeding, drinking age..)
Why must we just ignore this? Every day, a new college student is arrested for 'underrage drinking' (a crime impossible to commit by those over 21) and given a criminal record.. How the hell is it fair to give an 18year-old a criminal record because he's not 21 yet? Yet, when he turns 21, it doesn't expire..
Don't bother to flame me.. I don't care if you think 21 is a reasonable drinking age because I am convinced it isn't. Obviously the law does nothing to fix the drinking problems in the United States (it would probably be considered much more casual at a younger drinking age anyway) when Spain, France, Italy, etc.. all have less of an overall drinking problem and they have younger drinking ages.
Let the people drink the beer when they turn 18 and are still under the influence of their parents - instead of being under the influence of themselves when they get such a 'oh mi gosh responsibility."
I can't believe it's easier for me to get LSD than it is to buy beer. ARGGG.. Probby explains why most drugs are tried in high-school.
