Why do I absolutley suck at MW2 multiplayer?

I've been playing FPS games since they were invented, and always had some degree of success (though not stellar) with other online games. I was often in the top 2-3 players in most Battlefield games, and I'm a badass medic in TF2. Ah well. . . maybe I'm just getting old. Getting a bad case of gray finger.

Nah, you're just not using enough hacks. Just read through a couple of the posts on the IW forum for accounts of others enjoying this fine game, lol: http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=24&sid=7ae2176f980b1f0cf40f15faa94eed95

People are really, REALLY blowing this out of proportion.. I play like 4+ hours a day and usually only see about 1 hacker a day..
Of course. They just wait for anything to bash the game with. It's been almost a month and they're still at it.

As someone who actually plays, I do think hacks are a problem and likely continue to be. I hope IW is diligent in removing ways to hack, and VAC catches most of them.

I play a little bit almost every night since release, and I've only seen one obvious hacker (aimbot and more). I've seen a couple ones with possible wallhacks.

It sucks even seeing one on occasion, and games are ruined by hackers, but so far I haven't seen that here nor anywhere near the extent its made out to be.

Just curious.. how could you tell?

I've got a really good headset for gaming, and i'm really good at listening to where people are. A lot of times it looks just like im using a wallhack

Yeah, with the UAVs and it showing where you are when you shoot, I don't know how you could tell someone was wall hacking or not.

Played two games tonight, hackers were in both. That's just bad luck but still.

I'd say that maybe 4 out of 10 games have an obvious hacker in them... I'm level 36 and it seems to have gotten much more noticeable since I reached level 30. I play Ground War almost exclusively...

MW2 is getting me to re-think the whole online FPS gaming scene in general. I'm still considering purchasing the game for X360 and that's really discouraging because I had great times with the Battlefield series on pc and I love MW2 as well, but the hacking is beyond annoying and I don't think it's worth dealing with when the hack free version is readily available on X360. You don't have ANY of this b.s. on consoles, and although using the controller isn't the best setup in the world it's at least fair for all users. Fairness is huge in FPS games.

I never noticed this type of aim-botting in Battlefield games on pc... is it possible these type of hacks didn't exist for BF? Maybe tdue to BF's use of bullet physics? I doubt this but I'm just thinking aloud here...

Or maybe it's just the lack of a kill-cam in BF that meant I never knew if they were hacking. I know the killcam is not to be trusted and it's susceptible to latency, but it's still very good for spotting an aim-botter.

i thought there were cheaters on the consoles too?

I was decent at MW1 but I've been really bad at MW2. I've always hated the radar map showing everyone exactly where you are when you fire an unsilenced weapon and when the UAV comes up.

This is my experience with MW2 also. I dont know if the players are better or they are using hacks or what, but I just gave up on multiplayer MW2. If I want to play multiplayer, I will go back to the first game. I also hate the smaller number of players and the inability to choose your server. I think part of the problem (aside from that I am not very good anyway) is that the smaller number of players in MW2 probably mean that the people playing are mostly either the very best players or hackers.

There were aimbots in BF, but it wasn't widespread due to a few reasons. First, punkbuster was/is a pretty good program. Its not perfect, but its currently the best at what it does. Second, alot of the bad cheating was on the unranked servers that didn't use punkbuster. Third, there were penalties to being caught cheating. Since most of the ranked servers were admined by gamers like you and me they were very intolerant to cheaters in general, especially when violating rules that weren't technically cheating (camping Non-caps for example). EA had a very hands off approach and basically only intervened to squash bugs and tweak gameplay. We policed our own.

This much more difficult in MW2 since gamers have to rely on the developers to protect their interests.

I love running around with Bling Pro, silencer and HB sensor on a gun, cold blooded, and ninja pro... no one ever knows where I am unless they're hacking

oddly this thread just sparked my interest in the game.

oddly mine just went away - players who know the maps inside/out and know how to exploit its bugs and imperfections, hacks to see players through walls etc. COD4 was ok, but later proliferation of hacking players turned the gameplay sour (at least for me). I stopped playing COD4. Before I was addicted to CS and CS:S, the same thing with hackers made me quit that game.

On a side note, sometimes I wish developers would come up with free 'floating' game map designs, where even experienced players wouldn't know what to expect on a map, don't know where to spawn camp or camp snipe all the time. I play TF2 a lot lately since I don't see a lot of hacks (although, the most recent one is a speed hack) and wish that the new map layout would challenge the defending team, for example, not to use the same old fashioned sentry locations, but try something else.

Funny how it takes one hacker on a team to spoil everybody else's game.

You know what, i just played mw1 for an hour and totally rape with it. It seems there's a lot more noobs in mw1 than mw2.

My team deathmatch score was 163 kills 49 deaths. lol
The second guy with the highest kills in my team was 45 kills/45 deaths.

We played till 5000 points.

Aha! I have found a new strategy that works quite well.

Last night I loaded out with a p90 and a shotgun using marathon, lightweight, and commando perks. Played ground war and ran around like Darryl Strawberry after a couple of fine snorts (i.e., fast, erratic, and unpredictable). Knifed about 15 people my first round and shot 10 more, while dying only 8 times. Works particulalry well if the server is not so hot and everyone else is lagging. People were shooting behind me all the time.

Although it was fun to own some people for a change, I don;t really want to be the guy who knifes people in a FPS. Seemed kinda cheap. Not to mention the erratic movement gave me a wicked bad headache.

I suck too!! I have just over 2 days of game time in online now, and am just starting to get K/D games over 1.
